Reese Witherspoon began seriously pursuing her acting career shortly after attending Stanford University. At the beginning of her career, she was in part in movies such as Pleasantville or Election. It is Elle Woods' portrayal in Legally Blonde which marked a important pivotal moment in her career. Witherspoon also won an Academy Award in the year 2005 for Walk the Line. Water for Elephants This Means War was among the latest films she was a part of. It also received an additional Oscar nomination. Witherspoon has also had success in television, as she was the co-producer and co-star on David E. Kelley's Award-winning TV series Big Little Lies. Witherspoon has a father who is a doctor and nurse. Her birth was to Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon March 22 in 1976. She was born at New Orleans Louisiana. The daughter of a physician and nurse Witherspoon lived in Nashville Tennessee where she was a debutante and attended Harpeth Hall a private all-girls high school. Witherspoon, on a random basis in 1991 answered an advertisement in the local paper for extras. When she was only 14, she was cast as the lead actress for The Man in the Moon which was her first feature film. Witherspoon was so inclined to stop acting her initial year after her graduation that she thought about the possibility of pursuing a career in medical. However, in 1996, her role in the film Freeway was recognized with the Catalonian International Film Festival award for the most outstanding actress. The first semester of her college was devoted to acting. She then studied English in Stanford University for a brief duration before choosing to return to the workforce. In 2003, she made her debut as a film star in The Invisible Man. The television debut of her career was House of Lies Whitney. She also appeared as an actor as a character in The Dictator (1998) and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2006). She is a talented artist, and has also exhibited in several galleries.
