Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th in 1980) was an American performer, actor and dancer. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her career working alongside renowned actors and directors across theatre and on television. she continues that award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford is currently working for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to return in 2023 and will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. This production will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who produced Hamilton. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford starred for two seasons in CBS successful comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin, Hector Elizondo, as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford is a Denver resident who splits her time between Los Angeles.
